Bangladeshi TV airs ‘Prophet Joseph’

The SA TV (South Asian Television) in Bangladesh has broadcast the Iranian TV series ‘Prophet Joseph’.  

Comprised of 45 episodes, the series has been dubbed into Bengali for the country’s audience.

Directed by the late Iranian filmmaker Farajollah Salahshour (1952-2016), the series went on the Bangladeshi TV since November 27.

The series narrates the story of Prophet Joseph (PBUH) based on the Holy Quran and Islamic traditions in the historical context of ancient Egypt.

Prophet Joseph is dear to Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. For centuries, the story of his life has been told over and over in many different ways and in many different languages. This series is the Iranian version of a very beloved story.

Made with a budget of $2 million, the historical religious series was initially broadcast in Iran in 2008.

Later, it was dubbed into Hindi, Urdu, Azeri and Arabic and shown in India, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and some Arab countries.

iFilm English TV has also broadcast the series dubbed into English.

Mostafa Zamani, Mahmoud Pakniyyat, Katayoun Riyahi, Jafar Dehqan, Abbas Amiri, Rahim Norouzi, Elham Hamidi and Leila Boloukat are among the cast.
